About this concept
Why it exists, what it is not, and how it was made.
What this is
A small working concept built by Clearview for WFEO’s evaluation of Expressions of Interest for its website redesign. It shows the dedicated World Engineering Day microsite that the EOI asks for by 4 March 2028 (§4.3): linked to the main WFEO website, with its own navigation, organised by annual edition (event information, programme, resources, news, multimedia, related initiatives) with an archive of past editions, and a Hackathon section that renews itself every year (theme, participation, key dates, resources, prizes, results).
It is a sibling of our concept of the main WFEO website, wfeo-concept-cv26.npage.dev (on the WFEO website concept): the same WFEO identity (logo, navy, Barlow typefaces), with World Engineering Day’s own character taken from its logo’s SDG colours. Every page links back to WFEO in the bar at the top and in the breadcrumb.
What it is not
- Not the official World Engineering Day website. That is worldengineeringday.net.
- Not the production platform. The microsite would be built in WFEO’s WordPress environment and infrastructure, as the EOI asks.
- Not a new brand. It uses WFEO’s logo and colours and the published World Engineering Day logo, unchanged. The SDG colours appear only as decoration.
- Not the final design. It was built before any conversation with WFEO; expect it to change once discovery happens.
How we made it
- Nothing invented. Every fact comes from WFEO’s and World Engineering Day’s own published pages, read on 13 October 2026, with sources on each page. Where WFEO has not yet published something (the 2027 theme, host and programme), the page says To be announced.
- Anything drawn rather than sourced is labelled Illustrative: the “list your event” form and the supporters-by-edition idea.
- The events are real listings from the public events feed on worldengineeringday.net: name, city, country, date and format only. No organiser names, addresses or attendance; map positions rounded to about 10 km. Listings are shown as submitted.
- The map is drawn on the page from Natural Earth data (public domain), with no external map service.
- No portraits and no personal contact details. Videos and documents are linked, not embedded or copied.
- Forms send nothing.
- Built on Nanopage, an AI-assisted site platform that our CTO, Jasmin Ihtijarevic, is involved in building. It is the fastest way for us to show something real. It is not what we propose for production.
Accessibility
Built to WCAG 2.2 AA: skip link, one heading structure per page, visible focus, keyboard-operable menu and filters, result counts announced to screen readers, text in rem, layouts that reflow at 320 px. Tested with axe-core on every page and for reflow at 320 and 375 px; manual screen-reader testing is still to do.
Taking it down
The concept is unlisted and marked noindex on every page. If WFEO would like it removed, tell us and we will take it down the same day.
